Feature and Follow #1

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Allison Can Read, allowing you to met new bloggers and make new followers!

Question: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

Answer: A deal breaker for me would be a bad story, or a story told in a bad way. Especially when a story doesn't flow or just doesn't make sense. I guess some of this could be bad editing, because a good editing would hopefully catch these issues.

  1. I totally agree. Why would you continue on reading a book that doesn't even make sense? New follower~

    1. Thanks for the follow. After all why would we read if the story wasn't worth it?

  11. I completely agree. I like that you also said a story told in a bad way. Sometimes, I see so much potential for a great story but it's told in a bad way and makes it terrible overall.
Thanks for stopping by and following. Following you back via GFC.

    1. Thanks for the follow! It is frustrating to see a bad story told poorly, it makes me want to re-write it :)

  12. A good editor, or beta reader even, should address flow as a vital element. I tend to read my own work out loud to make sure lines themselves flow, especially in dialogue, but it goes beyond that. A story should have a logical sequence, each plot element should build the story premise and each scene should add something to the story and lead to the next scene. Without that, a story lacks cohesion and purpose. Definitely a pet peeve of my own as well.

    1. Thanks, yes bad editing can definitely ruin a story, but I can usually get passed that if the story is good enough.

    1. I wish I could say I didn't get too far into them, I really hate to not finish reading a book, so I sometimes will suffer through a bad book just because I hate to quit. Thanks for the follow!

  18. That can definitely suck about a story. If it doesn't really make sense then you are going to be completely confused about what you are even reading. No fun there.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier, returning some of the love <3.
