Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I liked More than I thought I would

Top Ten Tuesday is an incredibly awesome meme created by The Broke and the Bookish where bloggers and readers share their top ten's about all things bookish! Don't be shy......join the fun!

Today, I have decided to write my Top Ten post on the books that I got a bigger kick out of than I thought I would.

In no particular order.....

I never wanted to read a book about aliens, and then all the hype made me want to not read it (I don't really like books with hype), but once I picked Obisidian up, I couldn't read it fast enough and now I can't get enough of this series!

Again, due to the hype of this story I was not sure I would like the story, but I am glad to say that I did!

The Hunger Games is not something I ever had the intention of reading, I was still not big into reading books in Young Adult, but thanks to the promise to a sister, I read it, I didn't love it, but I did like it. And better than I thought I would.

When I was in high school I loved all things dark and creepy, but as an adult that really wasn't my thing....until this book!

I never had any interest in reading Twilight, but thanks to the curiosity and the crush of one of my sons, I picked it up, and was immediately hooked. So, I totally blame him! (just kidding....a little)

I know this may come as a surprise, but I actually never wanted to read the Harry Potter series, but thanks to a very persistent friend I gave it a shot and am so very thankful that I did.

My son first brought home this series, and desperate for something to read I picked this book up and fell head over heels in love. I then consumed every book in the original series!

I never wanted to read Clive Cussler, I always thought, these are books my dad reads. No way I am going to like something like that, Sha boy was I wrong. I have now eaten my words because these books are awesome!!

This was the book that started it all for me. I never wanted to read it and I never really read before this book! So I owe all my reading adventures to this book and I guess my dad, who introduced me to this amazing reading world!

Well there you have it! My top nine!

So, are there any books that you liked more than you thought you would? Or any books you liked less than you thought you would?

  1. I was the same about Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games, I was so hesitant to start them all. And all became firm favourites. I haven't read Everneath yet but its on my wishlist. And I love John Grisham but haven't read The Client yet, another on my to-read list :)

  2. What a great list! I still haven't read Harry Potter, but I own all the books. And I read Twilight long before I knew there were book-blogs and Goodreads, and I loved it. It got me back to reading after not having read for years, and it also made me seek out a community of book lovers :)

Here's my TTT post for this week.

    Happy reading.

    1. Oh my gosh! You absolutely must read Harry Potter! That was definitely the best thing I have ever done! Twilight was a pre-blogging book for me too. Actually all of the ones are my list are except Obsidian and Everneath.

  4. I love John Grisham - totally not my usual genre but I went on a kick when I was younger and read like 10 of his books.

    1. That is so funny, because he was all I would read while I was in my Junior year of high school! So, not my thing now! I think it is so funny to see how we all change over the years.

  5. I enjoyed the 39 Clues too, although didn't think much of the spin-off.

    1. I never read the spin-off, I just couldn't do it. I loved the way they ended the series and I didn't want to ruin it!

  6. I really want to read Obsidian, my plan is to read it for the Paranormal Reading Challenge. Everneath was not my thing, I just thought it was such a dark story. AHHh love Harry Potter!

    1. You definitely have to read Obsidian, that book was oh so good! Your reason for not liking Everneath was the exact reason I didn't want to read it, but I ended up liking it.

    2. My co-blogger just finished Everbound and said I HAD to read it because it was much better! So I am giving the series another try.

  10. Twilight got me back into reading, so I'll always love it for that. I didn't expect to love Obsidian, either! It sounded very typical but ended up adoring it. The Hunger Games, too. :)

  11. I've seen HG, HP and TWILIGHT on a lot of lists today. And I totally agree. None of them seemed like "my" kind of thing, but all of them sucked me in. I haven't actually finished the Twilight series -- HG and HP, though, are particular favorites!

  12. I love your list - you have such ecletic tastes! :-) My sister turned me onto Hunger Games, too! :-) I was recovering from knee surgery and she brought me a bunch of books and audio books to keep me occupied and that included The Hunger Games.
