Synopsis
«Come to me, Irewen. Follow me to the light.»
Following her father’s murder, Princess Irewen Donríel is betrayed and left for dead in the forests of Mistwood. Rescued by the elf prince, Laegon Elendell, Irewen awakes an exile with no home, no country, and no people. But as the horrific memories of murder and betrayal return, she realizes the nightmare is only beginning.
The world of Vaelinel is failing—its fate bound to her in ways no one fully understands. A mysterious elven prophecy may provide her with some answers, but continuously hunted and fighting for her life, Irewen quickly learns that unearthing the truth will be more difficult than she ever imagined. Can she accept Laegon’s love and the friendship of the Wood Elves, or will she stand alone against the terrifying evil now threatening to destroy the entire world?
My Review
The king is dead and Princess Irewen is running for her life. But the danger she runs from is a lot closer to home then she could ever imagine and as she gets further from home the amount of danger she's in increases. Now she is running to save not only her kingdom, but possibly the entire world.
When danger get's close and Irewen thinks all is lost she finds herself in the saving grace of Laegon, the Elf Prince. When she awakens she finds that she has a connection with the prince that she never thought possible. Not sure what to trust or what to do, Irewen decides to go with Laegon to find a way to save her land. While in the land of the elves, Irewen discovers that there is a lot more to her past and her future then she could ever know. Unearthing those secrets could be the very thing that saves her and everyone she has grown to love.
Irewen is a fighter. But she didn't start that way.Irewen started off as the typical princess, living the life of luxury, but by the end of Silevethiel she is determined to not only fight for her life, but the life of everyone she has grown to know and love. Including Laegon, the loyal and fierce Elf Prince. Not only is he great eye candy, but he is a great knight, a true warrior and he is determined not to let anything happen to Irewen.
Of course there are other characters in Silevethiel, but Irewen and Laegon are the main attraction. And they are a great main attraction by the way! But there is another attraction in Silevethiel that is definitely worth reading about and that is this awesome relationship that author Andi O'Connor created between a Guardian and their Protector. Ooh, I am so excited about this little tidbit that it is really hard not to tell you what it is, but for the sake of the story I am just going to have to bite my tongue and keep it a secret. Don't look at me like that, it is for the sake of the story! But I will tell you that what Andi O'Connor does with this relationship is amazing and it took me back to my childhood. It was this little addition to the story that added a great layer of humor and insight into the workings of everyone within.
Not only did I love what Andi O'Connor did with the Guardian/Protector relationship, but I absolutely loved what she did with the magic in this book. Magic is something that is found in all fantasy books, but I think Andi O'Connor breathed just enough new life into it to make it totally fresh and new. Giving us a great twist on elvish magic as well as dark magic.
Silevethiel is a fun read that will make you laugh out loud, make you aww and make you believe that anything is possible. Silevethiel speaks to the young at heart and increases my love of all things elvish! This is a great new twist on the world of elves, and is a trip definitely worth taking!

"When hanging in the balance, I made the choice to fight death."..."But in doing so, I liberated myself. I'm free. Reborn." (paperback, page 255).
This is a great example of Irewen's transition from princess to fighter!
