London Reed is on the hunt for a place to live before the start of her second year in college.

Either she is successful and can enjoy her student life without the pressure of her parents breathing down her neck, or she goes back home and clashes with her parents.

Because London doesn’t have a filter.

''You’re a weird one, aren’t you?''

She basically tells it as she sees it. So when she meets the hunky and scarred guy who lives in apartment 2B, the last apartment on her exhausting list, she’s sure to bring some crazy in his life.

But he’s determined to not take a girl for a roommate.

"I have nothing against you, but I don't see this working for me."

London doesn’t give up that easily and makes a deal with him. If she makes it for two months, she’s in for the whole year. If not, then she leaves to never contact him again.

Easy, right? Not so much.

"You should have told me that you wanted me to be all over you."

When a guy and a girl live under the same roof, it’s bound to complicate things. Between banters, heady games of seduction, innuendos and insecurities revealed, the life in apartment 2B isn’t simple, and a few slips in their relationship doesn’t help the matter.

"You're driving me completely nuts. That's my fucking problem."

Penumbra by Logan Patricks {Cover Reveal}

**Last year I fell in love with a book. Yea no surprise, I fall in love with a lot of them, but Semblance by Logan Patricks knocked me off my feet and left me breathless and I have spent what feels like eternity waiting for book 2, it really hasn't been that long, it just feels like it. But the wait will soon be over and today I get a cover to keep me company! Make sure you check out this awesome series.... TRUST ME!

Coming June 26, 2014

In one night, I lost everything: my hopes and dreams, my best friend, and Shadow’s heart. He told me he loved me, but it was just a lie.

The Midnight Society has fallen, reduced to ashes by a monster--a person whom we all once trusted. The betrayal has shattered our lives forever and Shadow, Lord of theMidnight Society, finds himself at a crossroad.

One road leads him further down the path of vengeance, filled with unending violence and dead bodies. The other road leads to me. However, our path to happiness is paved with broken glass and razorblades, and at some point, one of us is going to fall.

Welcome to the world of the Midnight Society.

**I am dying to get my hands on this book!!! And you can bet I will stay up all night on release day to devour it! You can see my review here.

Make sure you check out book 1 too.
Whoever said money couldn't buy happiness has never starved a day in their lives.

My name is Aria Valencia, a third year classical music student at the University, and I was down to my last dollar. Some nights, I seriously considered stripping at the Skin Bar just to make ends meet, but the thought of my dad's spirit--God rest his soul--scowling at me while I shoved my breasts into some pervert's face was enough to turn me off the idea completely.

And then one night, chance came knocking on my door under the guise of the Midnight Society, a secret cabal comprised of the most wealthy and influential souls this side of the Universe. Their leader was a man named Shadow, who was equally enigmatic as he was gorgeous and, for some mystifying reason, had his dark brooding eyes focused on me.

Seduced by the promises of fame and fortune in exchange for a seemingly innocent request, I soon found myself drawn into a provocative world filled with both vast riches and unending lies and it didn't take long for me to realize what being a part of the Midnight Society actually entailed: shiny things, hot sex, and dead bodies.

There's a dark side to every love story, and this one was mine.

Hot-Blooded by Kendall Grey {Cover Reveal}

**First, I just want to say that I absolutely freaking love Kendall Grey! She is a fabulously fierce author and woman. That being said, allow me to allow her to tell you a little about her upcoming book....

If Robert Rodriquez (Sin City), Tony Soprano, and David Lynch (Twin Peaks) made sweet love to a Hawaiian version of The Bride (Uma Thurman’s character from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill), the resulting spawn might look like Kendall Grey’s upcoming mystery/suspense/supernatural thriller, HOT-BLOODED.

The first installment in the Ohana series, HOT-BLOODED is set on the island of Maui and is wrapped in the light and dark watercolors of Hawaiian culture, history, and mythology. It’s about guns, drugs, surfing, and tiki monsters. HOT-BLOODED tells the tale of a ballsy, half-Hawaiian angel-turned-demon, the duplicitous assassin who falls for her, and the blessings and curses of family—all wrapped up in freaky, supernatural gift paper.
Here’s the description:
WARNING: HOT-BLOODED does NOT end with a happily ever after. It contains drug use and graphic sex, language, and violence. The story is intended to entertain, not to condone or glorify illegal or immoral activities. This book is unsuitable for sensitive readers and those under the age of 18.
*Written in 3rd person. Contains a massive cliffhanger and multiple POVs.
Ohana is everything…

When an accident claims her mother’s life, Keahilani Alana must take charge of her ohana (family) or risk losing what little they have. With an underage brother to care for and no education, she has few options. The door to a heavenly hellish opportunity opens when she stumbles upon a valuable secret her mother left behind on the slopes of an extinct volcano—a legacy that tempts the family with riches beyond their wildest dreams. But the secret is much bigger and more sinister than they realize. As reality unravels and exposes eerie truths about the ohana that should have remained deep under the mountain, Keahilani must either resist the call of her blood or risk being consumed by its darkness.

Blake Murphy is an assassin working to infiltrate a new Hawaiian cartel. His investigation reveals that Keahilani, the sexy surfing instructor he pegged as an informant, is much closer to the drug ring than he thought. Passion ignites between them in the bedroom, but their ironclad ties to opposing interests pit them against each other everywhere else.

When tensions reach the breaking point and her ohana is threatened, the only cure for Keahilani’s hot-blooded fury is a loaded clip with a body bag chaser.

They don’t call her Pele for nothing.

NOW.... Here’s the cover, designed by Renee Coffey:

So, are you up for a steamy, violent descent into tropical-island madness with a supernatural twist? If so, you can add HOT-BLOODED to your Goodreads TBR here. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but Kendall is shooting for the end of June or early July. Stay tuned!

You can stalk Kendall on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Amazon, or her web site.

Daughters of the Sea Book #3
By- Kristen Day
Publication Date- May 27th, 2014

The essence of who we are lies not in what we have, but in what we are willing to give up. Because in the end, Time and Tide wait for no one.

After sacrificing all that she had, the evil princess of the Underworld is still successful in her bid to tear Finn from Stasia’s life. In the midst of her search to reclaim him, Stasia is summoned to the island nation of Cyprus to take part in an age-old ritual; unveiling the missing pieces of her ancestry and re-igniting an ancient war. As she struggles to both save Finn’s soul and free Carmen’s mind, Stasia’s bravery and determination will be pushed to its breaking point. A dark storm is forming on the horizon, and the forces who are vying to destroy her may be much closer than she thinks. Destiny weaves a sticky web of evil, betrayal, and revenge that can only be undone by the purity of love and the soul’s unyielding will to survive. In the last installment of the Daughters of the Sea trilogy, the past will collide with the present as Stasia’s future hangs in the balance. The prophecy that paved the way for her new life may indeed be the very thing that strips her of the ones she loves the most.

River's Edge by Erin Keyser Horn {Audio Review}

*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

“Does salvation have a number? How many lives must I save before I’m redeemed?”

Eighteen-year-old Kasia Maier planned to spend her summer studying turtles in the sand prairie, not trudging through fearsome backwaters with her new coworker, Blayne. And when a monster drags Blayne into the Mississippi River, Kasia never expected herself to jump in after him. She saves him, but soon she’s discovering the monstrous in other places . . . including herself. Now she’s wavering on the edge between a dwindling humanity and a dreadful immortality. The river is tempting one moment, terrifying the next. She doesn’t understand who she is or where she belongs. Blayne, the one person with the potential to help her, is also the hardest to resist. If she can’t stop her own transformation into a river spirit, he will be her first victim. And that's just the beginning—even greater threats are lurking in the shadows.

Combining the Illinois setting of Thomson Causeway and the scariest of Slavic mythology, RIVER’S EDGE will make you question everything you know about nature, evil, and redemption.

My Review

I haven't listened to an audio book since I was fresh out of high school, but I have been thinking about the idea for a while now and when I was asked to review this book as an audio book I thought, here is my chance. I have to say at first it was strange. I had to get into the mind of the reader, I had to get used to her voice, her pacing, her everything. Now at first this bothered me. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it, but I give every book a fair chance and there was no way I was going to let a voice deter me from listening to this story, so I decided I would give it another chance. Of course I had no idea when I was going to listen to it, but then I got sick and BAM! I had nothing but time as I laid there sicker than a dog in bed. Instant perfect opportunity. And oh my gosh it was PERFECT!

I had no problems settling in my second go round, I fell right into the story and head over heels for the main character Kaisa. She is strong, independent, funny, and incredibly smart. She doesn't trust guys and rates them on the scum scale, which I found completely awesome. It actually had me rating a few guys that I knew on that scale. She is off to start an internship where she plans to impress the higher ups and leave a lasting impression. Doing all of this in the safe area of the prairie. But she actually ends up working in the river and she has to work with men. All of which rate differently on her scum scale and even have her questioning her mother's fool proof rating system. The last thing Kaisa wants to do is work in the river or with Blayne, but she will not run away.

Her entire life her mother had warned her to avoid two things, the water and boys... and on her first day of work she finds herself doing the exact opposite. And when her new co-worker, Blayne falls in the river, Kaisa throws caution and danger to the wind and jumps in after him. What she discovers under the water changes everything about her life. Now she can see things and do things she never thought possible, everything about her is changing. And she has to find a way to keep all this a secret from her new co-worker, while doing her job, and keeping him safe.

In River's Edge we follow Kaisa as she tries to find a new balance and sanity in the new world that she has been thrown into. There are monsters, spirits, scummy boys, sweet boys, humor, and action. River's Edge was a completely different story, that I found utterly refreshing. I was honestly surprised with the twists and turns of this adventure and I didn't want to stop listening until I was finished. And I didn't.

River's Edge was incredibly detailed and vivid and gave me everything I needed to make the story come to life in my mind, every monster, every creature, spirit and adventure was there for me. Some so vivid it could give you nightmares. Erin Keyser Horn has an incredible imagination and I am glad that I got to visit, even if it was for just one book.

There was nothing I didn't like about River's Edge. The characters were fun, detailed, and deep. The world was eloquent and real. I could have been camping next to that river it was so real. Everything about the story was captivating, from the reader's voice, the pacing, and the different voices the reader used. Hat's off to Erin Keyser Horn on a refreshing read and an incredible start to what I am sure will become a favorite series.

Excerpt: CONNOR

I move forward until I’m only inches away from her and she has to tilt up her head up to look at my face. Her lips part, her cheeks reddening. It’s stupid, but I feel a sort of twisted sense of pride that I made the cool girl blush.
“I’m gonna kiss you, okay?”
“That’s not even a legitimate question,” she breathes.
“I know,” I say.
She drifts over to me, her leg brushing against mine, and the way she’s looking at me is like an open invitation. I move my hand through the water and find her, run my hand across her hip. Damn, her skin is so soft, her curves so sexy. I keep my touch light but really want to grab her and pull her over to me.
“So?” She challenges. “You going to kiss me or not?”
My mouth tilts up in a sideways smile. She’s fiery, and I like that. That’s why I originally came here looking for her, and this… this is just extra but now that the moment’s here, I want it. Hell, I think I need it. I thread my fingers through her hair, press my lips to hers and drink her up with a soft kiss. She moans against me, and that kills the soft for me. I take the kiss deeper, and fuck, how she responds, matching every stroke of my tongue with hers, her taste deliciously sweet, her fingers knotting hard in my hair before raking over my shoulders and down my back.
I want to get closer to her. Want it so fucking bad, but there’s too much water stirring between us. I slip my hands around her waist, and she pushes her body up against mine. We’re skin on skin, slick and hard against wet and soft. It’s like every touch of hers leaves a charge behind that electrifies and pulses through me. I’m rock hard, and my hand slides down to grab that gorgeous ass of hers as I grind against her.
A small sound of need escapes her throat, and I groan. I seriously consider carrying her out of the pool and finding an open room so we can continue this in private. Her room. Laundry room. Somewhere. Anywhere but here.
She breaks off the kiss, tilts her head back as I lean down to suck on the very sexy curve where her neck meets her shoulder. “My God,” she moans.
I smile against her skin. “Not yet I’m not.”

Man I love Connor... and this book! You need this book... really, so go out and get it!!! NOW. If you want to see my review check it out here

The Gramm Curse by Candace Knoebel {Quickie Review}

*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Set before Everlasting, the addicting start to the Night Watchmen Series,The Gramm Curse is a novella told from Jaxen Gramm’s perspective.

How far is one willing to go for love?

Before finding a love that shakes the entire foundation of his world, Jaxen Gramm only had his Witch, Jezibelle Beaumont, to worry about. He’s her Hunter, and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe from the curse placed on his bloodline, even if it means keeping her far from his heart.

But when a spell is offered that has the power to remove the curse, temptation clouds the ethical judgment of the Gramm brothers and their Witches.

In this action-packed novella, enter the dark recesses of Jaxen’s mind as he battles with himself over a decision that could not only cost him his life, but the life of fellow Coven members. Reunite with Gavin, Cassie, Mack, and Jezi as they dance around the dangers of a civil war on the brink of beginning.

My Review

I love, love, loved Everlasting, the first book in The Night Watchmen series and all that goes with it. The action, the characters, the magic, and more importantly Jaxen Gramm! *sigh* And when I found out that Candace Knoebel was going to give me a novella from his point of view I felt like running all over town spreading my extreme joy about this momentous news, but the fact that I hate to run left me just squealing and fangirling in the privacy of my very own living room.

And the fangirling didn't stop once I got my very own copy either. In fact it just got worse. This novella gave me everything I wanted, JAXEN! Yes I know I say his name a lot, but trust me when you meet him you will totally understand my obsession and you too will be repeating his name. Jaxen! *shivers* Sorry, on with the review!

The Gramm Curse takes place before Everlasting and actually does an incredible job of filling in everything that happened before we are introduced to Faye Middleton. And boy is it a shocker. When Candace Knoebel wrote The Gramm Curse she wasn't just giving us an insight into Jaxen and what goes on in his head, but she was giving us a true insight into what is going on in the story. This definitely is not one of those novella's that acts as a filler. Oh no, The Gramm Curse is a must read addition to The Night Watchmen series! It gives us answers and gives us so many more questions.

But finally we get to see some of the truth behind Jaxen's stand offish personality and why he pushes people away. I hurt for him in Everlasting, but The Gramm Curse just made me hurt more. I loved Jaxen before, A LOT... but after reading this one, I am even more in love and am ready to admit that I am a Jaxen addict! So, Candace Knoebel can I please have some more???

"I know this is news to you," he says in a low voice, "but we're all born with a heart, and most of us like to use it. We like to lend it out. There's no point in breathing if you're just a shell without a heart, and if you're not careful, that's what you'll become." (kindle, loc. 449)

I had so many favorite moments in this novella, but this one just touched something. I think it is beautiful.

Really, I cannot begin to describe all the times I’ve met people who tell me that they would love to write, if only they could find the time (as if writing were a hobby, although given the quality of much of what is published, I sometimes think it is!), but if I talk to them at length it quickly becomes clear they do not read. That’s like wanting to run a marathon, but not wanting to run. Reading is the only way to learn how to write. It can’t be taught, exactly. It has to be absorbed.

4. Rebecca Stead – Author of When You Reach Me and Liar and Spy

What tips or advice can you share with young students who hope to start writing?

First: Read. It’s been said over and over, but reading is the most important thing an aspiring writer can do. Read what you love. Read something you think you won’t like at all. Experiment with your reading, but don’t stop reading.

Second: Don’t be discouraged by your first draft. For many writers, the first draft is a pretty terrible translation of what might be a terrific idea. Don’t stop and think, “this is awful.” It doesn’t help. Revision is just as much a part of the job as the first draft. If you aren’t willing to revise, you can’t be a writer.

3. Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket) – Author of The Series of Unfortunate Events, When We Broke Up and All The Wrong Questions Series.

What’s the greatest or most memorable piece of advice on writing that you have ever received?
“Read everything out loud.”

2. Laini Taylor – Author of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Days of Blood and Starlight

“Be an unstoppable force. Write with an imaginary machete strapped to your thigh. This is not wishy-washy, polite, drinking-tea-with-your-pinkie-sticking-out stuff. It’s who you want to be, your most powerful self. Write your books. Finish them, then make them better. Find the way. No one will make this dream come true for you but you.”

1.Neil Gaiman – Author of (tons of other stuff but also) Coraline, The Sandman Series, The Graveyard Book

Be wise

Make amazing mistakes

Break rules

Leave the world a more interesting place, and

Make good art

So there you guy. Easy right? Read. Write. Believe. Don’t give up. Read more. Write more. Believe more. Don’t give up more.

I don’t think there’s much that I could add to this. I mean, let’s be honest – these are all big fish writers and I’m a bottom feeder – happily and joyfully – but still a bottom feeder. But I will say this:

When you do start writing don’t give up. Just write. Keep writing. When it’s good keep writing. When it’s bad keep writing. When someone tells you it’s terrible and you should stop, keep writing. When someone tells you it’s perfect don’t change it, keep writing. You know in your heart what you are striving for. One day you’ll wake up and you’ll have found your voice. But it takes work. Be ready to do the work.
