I'm Team Author...

Yes I am team author...

As I know most of us bloggers are. It is the love of authors and their books that drive us to take on the extra job of blogging, yes it is another job; time wise, but most of us do this for fun. Out of the kindness of our hearts and with no expectation of compensation.

Since becoming a blogger I have met so many amazing authors that I can't even keep count anymore. Yes there are that many and yes I fangirl every time an author I love talks to me on Twitter, Facebook, follows me, favorites a tweet or just walks in my general direction.

But we all have those special authors that hold a special place in our hearts. Those authors that we would do anything for. The ones that we consistently talk about, read, buy, stalk, befriend and pimp. These are the authors that have climbed into our minds and taken a solid hold and I'm not complaining.

For me that list grows more and more every year. There are definitely more on that list now than there was this time last year. Then again, I know more authors now than I did back then. And I can't imagine how that list will grow as I continue to read more, blog more and meet more amazing authors!

But for now my list remains relatively small, but I look forward to adding to it as the years go by. As bloggers reading, reviewing, tweeting, Facebooking, pimping, whatever, helps spread the word about the authors we love so much. But I wanted more. I needed another way to show my love for my favorite authors. So I asked my good friend Megan to put something together for me.

You see she has great talent when it comes to graphics. So I told her what I wanted (I was very vague by the way) and she set out to create graphic genius.

And now thanks to Megan over at Book Groupies I can share my list with the world at a glance and here they are in all their glory! (In no particular order)

BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com BannerFans.com

Aren't they beautiful??? Megan has some serious talent and completely blew me out of the water with these stunning beauties. Each are works of art in their own right, but together they make the list of authors that rock my world. Authors that I will never forget, authors that I will always pimp.

Do you have authors that rock your world? If so, I would love to hear about them. Maybe they will one day be on my list.

{Blog Tour} The Agent's Daughter by Ron Corriveau {Review + Giveaway}

*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

The Agent’s Daughter by Ron Corriveau
Publication date: May 18th 2013
Genres: Romance, Thriller, Young Adult

Synopsis:
Melina has been preparing for a future career as a spy.

She just doesn’t know it.

Legendary spy Evan Roberts always knew that his fifteen-year-old daughter Melina also possessed the absolute lack of fear required of an agent. Without telling her his real profession or his intention, he began to guide her toward an eventual career as a spy. However, Melina’s world is shattered after her mom is involved in an accident that leaves her mysteriously unhurt but unresponsive. Her father’s plans on hold, Melina settles into life at a suburban high school, immersing herself in a world of schoolwork, her friends and a budding romance with Alex, the cute new guy in her class.

When Melina and her father uncover shocking new information about her mother’s accident, Melina is pulled deep into her father’s shadowy world. With Alex desperately trying to find her and only hours to go before it will be too late to save her mother, Melina and her father work together using their combined skills to find a way to reach her.

My Review

Melina is an incredibly smart young woman who just so happens to be the daughter of a very smart and talented spy. Only she doesn't know it. She thinks her dad is just a boring software engineer. She also doesn't know that her father has been priming her for a career as a spy her entire life. Her mother is in a coma and things just haven't been the same in the Roberts household. And her dad's latest mission changes everything, for all of them. Secrets are revealed, skills are tested and danger is around every corner.

Melina is very strong, trained from a very young age in the art of self defense, she could probably kill you in under a minute. But when it comes to talking to her school yard crush, Alex she is a bumbling school girl. Completely bewildered and out of her element. Alex is new to the school and she hopes that their shared love of science will bring them together, the fact that their dad's work together doesn't hurt either.

Evan Roberts is Melina's secret agent father who has put his life on the line in the name of his country more times than he can count. And he want's his daughter to follow in his footsteps and become a spy. He knows that she possess the skills required now all he has to do is tell her.

The Agent's Daughter is not your typical spy story, the fact that Evan is a spy is not the main part of the story. Rather it is just a portion of what makes this story great. You get to follow two worlds in this book as they happen side by side, Melina and Evan; normal high school girl and secret agent. Until finally their worlds collide in what is a great show of skill, talent and genius.

The Agent's Daughter is more than a spy story. It is a story about a young teenage girl discovering how to maneuver in the world where nothing is certain. It is about dealing with curveballs and the unknown. The Agent's Daughter was a lot of fun to read. It quenched my thirst for thrill as a spy, gave me the joy of discovering love as a teenager, action and a hearty lesson in physics. If I had one complaint about this book, it's that there wasn't enough action. There was a lot of time spent on the science but that action seeker in me thirsted for more. But it was still a fun book that left me happy.

 Excerpt:

Nickoli’s arms were laden with weapons when he came back into view. He stepped in, uninvited, and opened his arms; allowing each deadly piece to drop to the ground with an ear-splitting clang. I jumped back as the items ricocheted across the floor, and a club rolled to a stop by my feet.

Nickoli bent over and picked up a sword. He approached me, a menacing look on his face, and a flash of terror tore through me. The temptation to scream was strong, however I knew it wouldn’t do me any good. If his intention was to kill me, the deed would be long done before my cries for help would be answered. If they were ever answered. I kept my focus on the sharp tip of the sword as he advanced on me.

“If you choose not to trust me, you will have to protect yourself.”

He raised the sword, gripped the hilt in his fist, and hurled it into the floor at my feet. The tip embedded into the wood with a thud. I yelped in surprise and jumped back. With an angry glare, he turned to storm out of the room; leaving the pile of weapons scattered about the floor.

“I don’t know how to fight with a sword,” I called out, my voice void of the angry bluster it carried earlier.

He didn’t stop, but instead replied over his shoulder as his long strides carried him out the door. “Then Princess, you best learn how.”

The slam of his door signaled the end to our conversation.

**Ooh, I absolutely love this scene!!! Well, I love the whole freaking book, but this scene was a particular favorite :)

{Blog Tour} The Howling Heart by April Bostic {Review+ Giveaway}

*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

The Howling Heart by April Bostic
Publication date: August 8th 2013
Genres: Adult, Paranormal Romance

Synopsis:
Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.

Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv—wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.

Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.

Helpful Links: Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble

My Review

Paige's whole life has been haunted by wolves since she met the white wolf pup in the Colorado forest at the age of ten. But as an adult the wolves are just howls in a dream, that is until she returns to the Colorado cabin that started it all. Now the wolves are very much a part of her waking reality and she finds herself right in the middle of a world that she only thought existed in Fiction, when Riley the sexy werewolf offers her a different life.

When Paige goes back to Colorado to grieve and settle her emotions she finds herself again haunted by wolves and when she flees she get's into an accident that changes the course of her future as well as everyone around her.

Paige is an independent, strong-willed woman who really has everything, well except love. With her recent loss and her cheating boyfriend, the last thing Paige expects to find in the middle of nowhere is love. But that is exactly what she finds. That and a lot of danger, pain, and lust.

Riley is the beta male, next in line to be the leader of the pack. He is stubborn, strong, independent, and fights for what he wants; even when it threatens to tear his family and pack apart. But once Riley wants something he stops at nothing to get it. And I mean nothing. He will even face death to get what he wants.

Though I did enjoy The Howling Heart I did have my share of problems with the story. First, I did not particularly like a certain element that the author approached concerning sex and an animal. In fact this moment made me cringe both on the inside and out. Now this is a completely personal thing and may not bother some people, but it was a complete turn off for me. I think that there were other ways to approach this without going there. I also didn't care for another event that happened towards the end of the book, unfortunately I can't tell you about it because it would give too much away. But I thought the moment seemed to be added as a second thought. I also did not agree with certain aspects of the love story. Part of it felt like insta-love, but I knew how the author explained it and it made sense, but part of me still felt it was too fast for the story.

Now as I said I enjoyed The Howling Heart. And I did. In The Howling Heart you get all the elements of the werewolf story that you love, but with a twist. These just aren't werewolves, April Bostic has given us wolves blessed with the ability to turn into man, not the other way around. They don't share any telepathic abilities and are most definitely not shy (when you read this tale you will know exactly what I'm talking about). They have rules of the pack and die by those rules. Of course I thought some of them were archaic, but as the tale goes, so are the werewolves.

The Howling Heart was a book that brought me everything it promised, werewolves, thrills, adventure, action and love. April Bostic put a great twist on the age old story of the werewolf and brought back my love for the mystical creature. I loved the characters and understood what drove them, of course I think it would have been great to get in the mind of Riley.

This is one of those books that you simply must judge for yourself....

~Excerpt~

As the door closed behind the agents, Valerie snatched a knife off the table and stuffed it into her back pocket. She picked the handgun back up, opened the chamber, and checked for bullets. It was fully loaded. She snapped the chamber into place and unlocked the safety. With that she walked over to the far wall of the room, spread her legs shoulder width apart, and aimed at the door.

Valerie glanced at the mirror.

“Ready.”

There was no reply.

She kept her arms steady. The gun weighed on her arms as she waited, but she didn’t waver. There was a sudden knock right before the metal door screeched open. A twenty-something man stumbled in as the door slammed shut. The dude was skinny and a bit pale, but who wouldn’t be in a place like Alaska? He righted himself and faced the door. And there he remained standing, staring at the door as though it would open if he waited long enough.

Some vampire. Valerie lowered the gun slightly as her arms relaxed.

“Hey, you,” she called out.

The man turned more suddenly than she’d expected. His eyes sparked to life when he saw her.

Blut,” he said. “Ich brauche Blut.

“I don’t speak vampire,” Valerie retorted.

The man started walking toward her.

Valerie raised her gun.

“Stop! Stay where you are.”

The man kept advancing.

“I said stay where you are!”

Ich brauche Blut,” the man said back.

When he was three feet away from her, he reached for her neck.

Not again. Valerie wouldn’t be a victim a second time.

She pulled the trigger.

**Dang! This story already has me!

{Blog Tour} The Remade by Casse NaRome

*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Book Info~
Title- The Remade: Akila’s Psalm
Series- The Reborn Book # 2
By- Casse NaRome
Publication Date-November 2nd, 2013

Blurb~
Dain has lost everything. His mom and Tara are both gone. The face that he once used as a solace, he can no longer bear to see. He’s unraveling; Akila may not be enough to hold the strands together.
For Akila watching Dain become a shadow of the guy she once knew is torture. She knows she is losing him but how can she stop it while holding on to secrets of her own? All she has to do is keep everything together long enough to stop the evil scientists that are out to sabotage their destiny.
They are both fighting their own demons but whose will destroy them first?

Helpful Links: Goodreads | Amazon

My Review

Dain is lost in grief and buried in rage over the loss of his mother and the betrayal of his friends. But he can't let it drag him down because he has to save himself and those that he thought he loved. Akila is running with him, but she betrayed him too, and she's not sure she can save Dain from his anger. With the Facility after them and so many questions left unanswered it is not only a question of survival but a question of truth.

I love Dain. Let's just get that out in the open before we go any further. But in The Remade I had a serious love hate relationship with him. I definitely did not agree with some of his decisions in this book. So much so, that if I was his friend I would have smacked the ever loving crap out him! Yes I know he is grieving and is ultra pissed for what his friends did, but I personally think his behavior is coming from somewhere else... someplace deeper. (Psst, I'm not going to tell what I really think because that would give too much away)

But his actions aren't the only ones I questioned in this book. Now don't get me wrong I love all the characters in this series for different reasons, but I seemed to want to smack them a lot. I think there is a major plot twist coming, but Casse NaRome is just toying with us, slowly taunting us, giving us these little bread crumbs while she sits back and watches us squirm and debate the future of the characters. I know something major is going to happen and it is driving me freaking crazy!

The Remade is a story about heartbreak, loss, grief and survival. All the characters are battling their own demons all while trying to stay alive and discover the truth. Granted some do a better job of dealing with all these things than others, but that's all part of what makes the story interesting. The Remade is a very character driven book with characters that are easy to love, or hate. The Remade is an easy read that will allow you to focus on someone else's problems for a while. And if I had one complaint it would be that it just wasn't long enough!
