Excerpt:

"Why do you care so much?" he asked, scooting the tray to the foot of the bed and moving closer to me.

My body reacted to his close proximity. "What makes you think I care?" I said breathlessly as he inched closer.

"I think you care a lot," he said, dropping his eyes to my mouth.

I swallowed hard as his mouth hovered close to mine. "Tell me you haven't been thinking about this," he said, stroking a thumb over my bottom lip.

"Have you?" I whispered.

"Jams, I've been thinking about this longer than I can remember," he said, crushing his lips to mine. His words rang through my head, but there was no way I could make sense of them when his lips felt so good. I responded with a small moan when his tongue trailed across the same spot where his thumb had been. My pleasure filled acceptance affected him and he dragged me into his arms, deepening the kiss. A shiver rippled down my body as our tongues found each other. I gripped the hem of his shirt, wanting him closer. Hearing my unspoken plea, he settled the upper half of his body on top of mine. I gasped with pleasure, running my fingers up under his shirt. I could feel the firmness of his muscles and smoothness of his skin. It was almost my undoing when I felt him tugging at my shirt moments before his hand glided over the sensitive skin of my ribcage. My blood roared through me. His hand moved farther up to my breasts and I bowed my body, whimpering against his lips. I wanted his touch everywhere on my body.

"Jams, you're seriously killing me," he said raggedly against my lips. He pulled back slightly.

"Is that good or bad?" I asked, running my hands up his torso. My fingers trailed to the small patch of hair that disappeared down his jeans. Ever since I'd seen him in nothing but his jockey shorts the other night, I've fantasized about that small trail of hair.

"So good it almost hurts," he said, leaning in for another kiss. Before his lips could reach their destination, a beeping noise from downstairs followed by the sound of voices in the hallway interrupted us. "Really?" he asked incredulously, climbing off the bed. I couldn't help giggling. Of course something was going on. With our luck lately, I could have almost set my watch by it.

ABOUT CROSS COUNTRY CHRISTMAS:

With the holiday season upon her, Jamie Foster is once again stressed about making her yearly visit back home to Woodfalls, still single. Fate intervenes in the form of Grant Johnson, a boy she grew up with, who catches the same flight while returning home from a business trip.

When a malfunction sends their plane crashing down on the runway upon takeoff, Jamie and Grant decide to rent a car and make the nine-hundred-mile drive home together. Ironically for them, anything that can go wrong does as they face one hysterical hurdle after another.

Christmas may finally bring Jamie the gift of love she has always wanted if she and Grant can manage to overcome a few obstacles along the way. Ho-ho-ho!

My Review of Envisioned (The Elemental Prophecy Book #1)

Brielle leads a sheltered life. And life on an island is not necessarily the life a teenager wants to lead. But due to her father's over protective tendencies Brielle never leaves the island. But every girl needs to celebrate her 18th birthday. And her best friend helps her do just that, but what they don't expect is for things to turn dangerous. And when men show up and try to take Brielle things get a little....strange. Brielle is suddenly thrown into a world full of elemental magic and she is now front and center.

Brielle is an elemental. But not just any elemental. It is believed that she is the One that can wield all 4 elements and potentially stop an apocalypse. Only she doesn't even know it. Well until all hell break's loose on her 18th birthday. And after she sifts through all the secrets and lies told to her all her life Brielle realizes she doesn't have much time to figure out how to control her powers before the world comes crashing down. But there is one bonus, a sexy as hell fire elemental named Jace.

A lot happens in Envisioned and I do mean a lot. As soon as Brielle discovers her entire life has been a lie it is just one thing after another. And it seems her life is unraveling faster than the secrets can be revealed. Now this is not necessarily a bad thing. It definitely keeps the story moving, but I felt it was a little too much, too fast. There were so many things happening that I sort felt like I was getting whiplash from it all.

Now I can say that I liked Brielle and Jace. Both are tenacious and completely likable characters, with kick butt powers. And I know that their connection has a purpose and all but it was a little hard to take at times. And yes I liked the two together, I just found their total acceptance and love of each other a little hard to stomach.

That being said, I did enjoy the overall story, once I was able to stop thinking about the details and let myself get lost. And I really did like the way Nikki Narvaez used elemental magic in the book and the ways that it is wielded. The characters are pretty likable and the world is one that would be fun to explore, but it just wasn't for me. But it might be just the thing for you.

{Review} Mythology by Helen Boswell

Synopsis
Hope Gentry doesn’t believe in Fate. Born with an unusual power to see the dark memories of those around her, Hope just wants to be a normal teenager. But on the first day of her senior year of high school, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to a transfer student named Micah Condie. At first glance, Micah seems like a boy that most girls would dream about. But when Hope's powers allow her to discover Micah's darkest secret, she quickly becomes entangled in the lives of mythical entities she never dreamed existed. Was this her destiny all along? And will her powers help her survive the evil of the Demon Impiorum?

Mythology isn’t just for English class anymore.

My Review

Hope has a secret. She can see people's most darkest memories. But she has no desire to see the darkness that lies inside others. She only wants to be normal. Until she meets Micah Condie. The incredibly sexy, mysterious boy who finally manages to pull Hope out of her protective little bubble. But with the appearance of Micah also comes the appearance of strange mythical beings and a world that Hope is a little nervous to accept. Now she is being hunted by darkness, protected by light and defending the dark secret that lies within Micah.

When Hope discovers Micah's secret she does everything in her power to ensure that the darkness doesn't consume him. Even at the expense of her life. And Micah will do anything to ensure that his darkness doesn't consume Hope. Now they are in a battle as old as time, a battle for both of their lives.

In Mythology we start with a story as old as time. The story of good versus evil. But Helen Boswell breathes new life into the story. Giving us an incredible pull to both sides. Giving us the insatiable desire to be both good and bad. Giving us a story where both are equally cool and equally formidable.

Finally we have a story that makes being dark so good. A story that shows us that just because you were born to darkness doesn't mean you have to answer to it. Just because darkness lies inside you doesn't mean you have to use it for darkness. That darkness can be wielded for light, when put in the hands of a heart and soul that is full of light and love.

Helen Boswell made me fall in love with Hope. She is shy, timid, and absolutely freaked by the darkness she see's inside others. Due to her ability she has become somewhat of a hermit. Choosing the world of books and home to that of partying and friends. She keeps everyone at a distance except for her best friend and her brother. But enter in the drool worthy Micah Condie and Hope throws all her rules right out the window. Now she is sneaking away with Micah, going out with him and stealing glances across the room.

And really who wouldn't steal glances at Micah. He is dark, mysterious and perfectly dreamy. And girls have been drooling over him for years. But with Micah's life and secrets he too chooses to keep people at a distance. Always afraid of hurting those that get near. But with Hope he can't resist and suddenly he is chasing her with every desire of his heart.

I know it sounds cheesy and totally cliche, but I am going to say it anyways. If any two characters are meant to be together it is Hope and Micah. They are the Will and Scarlett and Romeo and Juliet of our time. No I'm not saying their love will end in tragedy, but that their love is meant to be. Meant to out last time.

Mythology gives us characters that are hypnotic, lovable, believable and real. Characters you root for, characters you hate, characters that you will absolutely love and of course those that will knock your freaking mythological socks off. Plus I have to say her characters have the best taste in music, ever! I would seriously buy this soundtrack.

Ever feel that pull to darkness? That urge to walk on the side of danger? Ever feel so out of control it's almost exhilarating? That's what reading Mythology was like. It was like being lured to the dark side. Every word was a temptation and call to read more, want more. And I have to say if the dark side is as sexy as Micah, then I will go to the dark side anytime.

"Only ever yours," he says, and my heart more than compensates for skipping a beat by fluttering uncontrollably. (kindle, loc. 1844).

Being a hopeless romantic and a sucker for Aww moments, I chose this moment. It is a special moment in which Micah confesses to belonging only to Hope. And it is a saying that I am happy to say get's repeated throughout this great tale.
